Lesson Excerpt
Linking verbs are intransitive, state of being verbs that do not have a direct object. Instead, a linking verb links the subject of the sentence with more information about who are what the subject is. While action verbs show action, a linking verb doesn’t. Instead of telling what the subject does, a linking verb’s job is to join the subject with other words in the sentence that describe or explain more about the subject.
