Learning about Light and Shadows
The reading is designed to form part of a class discussion. Activity A encourages experimentation with light sources to determine which objects are opaque and which let light through.
• The children will understand that light travels in a straight line.
The children will be able to predict where a shadow would fall.
The children will be able to distinguish between transparent, translucent and opaque objects.
Shadows are formed by sunlight and other forms of light like electric light bulbs and flashlights. Try using a flashlight on a couple of objects. Where does the shadow fall?
